Hi all,
I've built one of the oxycheq kits and I have a small problem. Basically, the lowest I can calibrate it down to is 44 - no lower. Does anyone have any ideas of what has gone wrong?
What's interesting is that just after I built it everything was perfect. I could calibrate at 20.9 and it read accurately on known mixes in my deco tanks. Next time I use it it's screwy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

try a fresh battery and report back.

<edit> Pug got in before me, but the panel meter has a battery low indicator you can check </edit>
Unscrew the case to make sure wires are not shorting out.
Take a reading on a known mix with the case wide open.
If this reading is okay, close the case and see if the reading goes crazy (which indicates wires are shorting).
You can also check the continuity on the 1/8 inch plug that connects your O2 sensor to your meter.

New battery was a no-brainer so I checked with two new bateries. I get the same 44 reading with the case open or closed although last time I closed the case it fluctuated a bit.
Should I replace the wiring and start from scratch. Also, my iron has a thich tip, perhaps too much solder on the joints would do this?

perhaps an email to oxycheq is in order if you cannot find any discrepancies in the way you put the kit together.... since you did get a correct reading a one point I infer that you removed the little resistor and have the pot wired correctly.

I built my own meter from scratch with help from the folks at Oxycheq. Everything worked great when I first used it on knowen mixes and just like yours, mine started to go crazy after a short time. Batteries checked good and the sensor was only a month or two old at the time. Finally the display just blanked out all together. I finally replaced the display panel and everything has worked good ever since. May be that your display is going bad.
Just my 2 cents.
