Myself and a non-Scubaboard diver headed to Vortext today to test some gear. My dive buddy got a new wetsuit and hood which came in handy today. Weather couldn't have been better for this time of year. Partly sunny with air temps in the low 70's. Water temps were the usual 68 degrees.

There were very few divers at Vortex today. My main purpose other then testing some gear configurations, was to test out my new Canon G10. I got the Ikelite case for my camera last week, this was the first time I have had it underwater. I am still learning which settings I like best. I am still waiting on one of my flashes to finish getting repaired. I was having to adjust my pictures with only half the light.

Bugman was there doing a cave dive with some people, we chatted a while during our SI. I got a few shots of him heading in to the cave. Also saw Kevin Carlisle there...good seeing you again Kevin. Hope we can dive together soon.

We made two dives today. Not sure why the basin was stirred up so much since there weren't many divers in the water. The cavern was clear as usual. Shane and the staff at Vortex were friendly and helpful as always.

Here are a few pictures from today...

Thanks Barry....can't wait till I get my other flash. Still have a lot to learn with this camera...but the first tests were promising.

Nice pictures Glen.

Good shots. I really liked the very first photo, and the B&W photo.

Thanks, the head on shot of the brim is my favorite too. I love black and white so I like throwing them in every now and then. Me, you and Barry will have to get a picture taking trip together sometime soon.

Trying to find some time and good weather to get back out to the Russian Freighter. Great area to shoot Pics!

That looked like a fun dive...let me know if you get something worked out, and have room for another camera.

Thanks for the pics Glenn. The b and w is of my two sons (18 and 14). My 14 year old is a new diver but my 18 year old has been diving since he was 12, hence his position in the water. I was diving with Mat on that dive and then made a second with my boys. That just made their day. You are right, it was a great day to dive. I was also surprised on how few divers there were.

I took a few pictures of them because Mat said you had your sons with you...but I wasn't sure if that was them. Sorry we didn't get to meet and chat. We had to dive and leave pretty quickly. I had some family stuff so I had to get back home.

I think I have some other shots of your sons. I will got through the pictures and post them on my Photobucket site. I would shoot you a link and you can download them from there.

And for the record, they were both doing fine. We were all down in cavern entrance together and they weren't kicking up silt or having any problems. They seemed to be cruising around enjoying themselves.

Glen/Mat, is the floating dive platform back in the water?? Does this signify some movement in the Vortex & Doc saga?

There is a nice new floating dock back at Vortex...but, things are still the same with the Vortex/Doc saga.

Yes, the B & W is nice! Matt, you really need to hit that head with a razor, then you too can have a nice Irishsquid SKULL. :D

Great pics Glenn. It was nice to see you again and yes we need to hit a cavern somewhere. I did a dive today at JB with Rick on his B-day. Great dive but boy you work your butt off there right now.

We will be there next week. I guess I better get ready to get my butt kicked. When you go in to JB, if you go off to the left once you get in, and come up that side...is the flow less? See any guys walking in J.B. today?:D

Glenfwb --I think I swam over the top of you at one point

I spent my entire time in the water fighting my equipment, and spent most of the day frustrated. I hate that it was such a great day out there, and I didn't get to enjoy it that much

Yes Glenn actually they were back again. All we could do was shake our heads and laugh. No even down in the cave a ways it was a hard swim.. Go 3 ft forwards and 1 ft back with each kick. I feel like a ran in a race LOL.. The only easy way I can think of right now is a scooter.

You should have thumped me on the head. I know the feeling of fighting with equipment. That can make for a frustrating day. But, Vortex is a good place to fight with equipment. Better to work out problems in clear water...with no current. Hope you got some things worked out.

Great pics Glen! Those photos are coming out sharp as a tack! I agree, the first shot and the BW are my favorites also...albeit there's something sexy about the 8th and 9th...

The weather Saturday was definately awesome, I wish today was as good(even if the weather sucked, the dive was still good)!

Sorry about the equipment problems, but it was nice meeting you out there. Hopefully we can get a dive in next time around.
