Nikon D90 with Tokina 10-17mm

Here is a collection of shots from my nikon D90 using the Tokina 10-17mm lens. The vis was down on the day but plenty of action in the water. A large Manta was spotted by other dives on the dive but unfortunately I missed it.

He didnt mind me at all. I ripped off about 20 shots until another diver with a disposable camera wanted to get into the action and swam in with all arms. Leopard didnt like it one bit and took off.

Hi Mike.

I have had a little play with the video mode underwater. There is a need for video lights of some sort and I am going to use my HID sometime soon and try that out.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the video after all the bad things I've read about it. Seems like it'd be pretty useful with the right lighting and so long as you're able to keep the subject in focus.

Looks good. Its definitely a great solution for the DSLR shooter who just wants some video clips here and there. The whole issue about the length of the clip seems to be irrelevant...who shoots more than a 5 minute clip without breaks in between, that would be one shaky video!!

I'm excited to get one underwater and play with it in the near future.

Mike the biggest issue is really the lack of auto focus and the need for video lights when at depth.

To start the video mode you have to press live view and then the ok button. This will make you move about a bit at the start of each clip.

I had a dive on tuesday with Pete Hitchins from SWR Dive Centre and Alfred 1 from Alan Powers, Vanuatu. Pete was taking Alfred back to the airport after his holiday with pete and decided to stop in Byron for a dive.

I took the opportunity to take care of them both as they have taken care of me many times. Pete when I dive with him at (South West Rocks Dive Centre (http://www.southwestrocksdive.com.au/)) and Alfred looks after me when I dive the Coolidge (http://www.allan-power-santo.com/).

I had my new Nikon D90 with 10-17mm and Pete asked if he could have a play with it on the dive as he was interested in the camera. So Pete ended up with my nice big new camera in his hands for the dives.
