I am planning for 2wks of diving in Sept, but the person I am going with wants to stay for 2.5 or 3wks since it is sooo far to get there (she is coming from Peru). We could dive a little more, but would also be interested in know what else there is to do around there. We are flying from Singapore, so something fun around there would work to. So is there good sightseeing or anything we should check out for a few days?
Thanx!

Tangkoko National Park has one of the world smallest primates the Spectral Tarsier (Tarsius spectrum) and birds such as the Hornbill.
Located near Lembeh (across the peninsula from Manado City). You can stay at inexpensive home stays just outside the park entrance and go out with a local guide for dawn and dusk jungle walks. Your dive operator can assist you with booking and transportation You can do this as your non-diving day before you fly out.
Be sure to dive Lembeh. Do as many night dives as you can. They are great fun and you will see surprising things at night. I saw a crab spawning during a night dive. Fantastic

A stopover in Singapore always is a good idea. Lots of things to see there.
In North Sulawesi spend 2-3 days in the highland area around Tomohon. The active volcanoes, lakes, traditional villages and markets are a nice change from diving.

Definitely Tangkoko.
We've done the highlands tour. Private driver/guide and lunch at the Gardenia Hotel. It was great.
If you have the time, excursion to Toraja is great according to friends that have done it. The link in the above posts to Safari Tours and Travels is all you need to know. Let them take care of you.
