New species of giant jellyfish found by scientists in Pacific waters

JELLYFISH

I heard about these last night on the news. They said that the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (hey, I know some of those guys) has been working on them for a while, now I wanna see one!!!

I'll admit, this is definitely an ignorant question because I'm not a biologist of any kind, but I noticed that both reports refer to the new fish as "fleshy". Could this mean not gelatinous? Certainly the pictures taken make the fish appear to be more solid than a "normal" jellyfish. Maybe Big Red is not a jelly fish at all?

theat would better be described as "fleshy" and gelatinous. They looked just like a thimble jelly, but were 4"-6" in diameter.
