I inherrited a JBL 38 Special. I've received new bands and a new shock cord. Can anyone give me advice on the best technique for installing the new bands?

A small piece of wood that will fit in the opening of the front end loop will pry the opening slit of the plastic apart. Push the wire portion of the band into the loop, then rotate the band until the wire is centered on the shaft. Using a wooden pry will reduce the chance of damage to the plastic.
