Cold water temperature (for tropical standard), ripping current (up, down, horizontal, toilet flush, washing machine)..
 
Has both placid dives in incredibly beautiful places as well as serious current exactly as IceIce describes. It was the downcurrents I was concerned with. Coming down the seamount or around the corner. We encountered a lot more down then up. And it wasn't out of nowhere. You could see the surface of the water churning.
