Anyone know where to buy a Canon G10 camera and WP-DC28 housing in Cebu or Manila.

If so a phone number or e mail address or website is appreciated.

My camera and strobe are dead. I'm stranded. Diving ain't no fun for me without a camera.

Shipping from the USA is out due to shipping rates.

Flying back to Maui is more costly.

Flying to Hong Kong to buy is an option.

Paying more for the products in the Phils. is the least expensive of my options.

Any other suggestions are welcomed.

try Ellen at Diverspoint. she is a member of this board. most camera shops in malls have G10. its the housing that's a bit harder to come by.

If you badly need to buy it...InfoMax in SM Cyberzones have both the G10 and DC28 housing.

she has the housing? cool... how much would you know?

the G10's easy to find... if you're in bohol just head to the local biggest mall (SM or BQ) and look for a canon or digital camera shop

if it's not there it's definitely in the canon shop in ayala or SM in cebu

shipping the housing to you from ellens would probably run to around 250 or so... 2-3 days via air21

The price at Infomax is 48,000+ for both camera & housing. I got mine for only 33,700 with 4 gig flash, bag, & tripod in Hongkong last January.

I have a quote for those items for a bit more than your Hong Kong price from a dealer in Manila. Even if I had to pay close to 48,000 it is cheaper than flying to Hong Kong and paying for a hotel.

My price may be for a gray market camera?

Many thanks to all of you for helping me out. I'm still in the ordering stages from one of the people whose name was given to me.

Some of the cameras are gray market and therefore priced lower. No Canon warranty.

Don't get me wrong on the Philippine gray market cameras because many of those camera dealers located in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, New York are selling gray market cameras. I believe my Kodak pocket camera is one since it has no serial number on it.

Go to "???????? FUN-IN Underwater Photo Equipment" (http://www.fun-in.com.tw/catalog/index.php) which is in Taiwan. Cheaper then anything you will find in PI and ships the next day after order.

Import Duty? The Philippines has it. One of the reasons imported things cost more here.

ASAP as I have no gear at present.

Going to Manila from here is an option but not at the moment since I have to include the airfare in the product price.

Two of the three dealers given to me here are out.

One has a gray market camera and is out of stock.

The other wants about $1000. US Dollars for the camera and housing. Way too much compared to the USA price of around $650.

The third is still working with me and I hope to be successful.

Henry's at Quiapo offers Canon warranty with their G10. You may also order the housing from them. If they do not have the housing, try the other shops around the area.

Hi Gilligan,

Just my two cents,

G10 is a bit expensive camera. Invest a good housing for it because in underwater you rely on your housing. For what I know, Canon housings are not serviceable. You can try calling (02-7253631)Diver's Point or (0917-5259639)Splash Photography, I'm sure they can help you.

Thank you and I understand that. However the Canon housing is all that is available to me at a price that I am willing to pay in the Philippines. Imported products just cost too much here because of government import fees.

I will use it giving me practice with the camera until my next trip back to Maui at which time I'll decide on getting the Ike housing and true TTL strobe. If I do I can always sell the WP-DC28 housing. At least I will have a camera for the number of months I have here before my next trip back.

I should have my camera next week at which time I'll post where I got it and how helpful they were too me.
