Take a look at the link for our Latest UPDATES on our Website for our side-scan sonar read-outs which have been combined with the magnetometer readings & then configured with the GPS readouts with sub-meter accuracy (GPS readouts not shown-confidential-go figure) and see if you dont see what we see. We have already recovered two of the reported 60 bronze cannon on-board and they were five feet long and the readings say these hits are also five feet long.
This is the suspected site of Napoleons lost conscripted merchant ship carrying troops to quell the Haitian revolt in Hispaniola in September 1802 named the La Viete. It is strongly suspected that her destiny was to then occupy New Orleans and six months after her loss, Napoleon either coincidently or not sold the Louisiana Territory to President Jefferson doubling the size of the United States and changing history forever.
At the time Jefferson is quoted as saying: If France ever occupies New Orleans, we will have to marry the British Navy and its country. Can you imagine how different the world would be if the United States didnt exist and North America were 1/3 British, 1/3 French and as a result, most probably 1/3 Spanish?
This ship would have had to carry a payroll for the troops and for the operating expenses of the colony in Hispaniola and maybe for the costs of occupying New Orleans, if that was indeed her ultimate destination. Remember, Europe was blockaded at this time and Napoleon would have had a difficult time trying to slip a ship through just to occupy New Orleans, but since most of the countries involved also had slave-based economies in the Caribbean & the Bahamas they did not want a slave revolt to be successful and allowed this ship through.
These ships, at this time in history, carried an average of as much as ten chests filled with gold, silver & copper coins according to research. Each chest averaged around 800 to 1,000lbs so they were too heavy for one or two conspirators to carry away on their own. The adage: Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead would apply here except it would have taken at least 8 or 10 to accomplish this feat.
On the next to last page is what appears to be a clump of very strong metal hits that are shaped like a box or chest. There are several hits just like this one in the 48 strong hits we had on the last survey a couple of days ago.
Below is a video of one of the two cannon we have already recovered and they are both now on display in museums. (All artifacts recovered by NCR are destined for museums and study collections.)
We are seriously considering allowing up to five (5) experienced divers a week to join us as paying volunteers in this most exciting expedition to help cover our costs since we are not selling any artifacts. This will be on a first come, first served basis but students or graduates of marine sciences will have priority if the occasion arises. Accommodations will be single occupancy at the best hotel available with all meals, ground transportation, tanks, weight-belts and instruction on survey and salvage techniques provided.
The hotels may be somewhat Spartan and not the Four-Seasons depending what is available at the time, but they will be clean and safe at least and most have air conditioning and hot water and an attached or nearby restaurant & bar. (Alcoholic beverages and airfare are not included.)
