My friend is after an entire set of scuba gear with a reasonably large budget, and I'm after a few bits and pieces as well, computer, reel, 2 knives (BC + leg) light, etc etc anyway we decide based on reputation to go through Leisurepro since scubagear in Australia at the LDS is around 3 times the price of online stores (thats before tax and transport.)

Shown as the most popular choice of online side store for scubaboard members and with lots of recommendations we thought we were on a good thing... wrong. :(

Put in the order online, they invoice came back incorrect, they had left off one of the computers, send over this time a number of emails, around 4, none were responded to for around 3 days. Called Leisurepro at 9am local time and arranged for correct items to be sent.

Package is apparently sent last Thursday but after many emails and no replys on the subject of getting the fedex consignment number so we can track it I call Leisurepro once again, they respond 'ahhhh we don't have that..we'll get back to you on it..'

After spending 45 minutes on hold with Fedex they can find no record of our package, which apparently happens 'quite often' but no doubt it will turn up 'any day now.'

When shipping is costing $USD150 and the order itself is worth over $USD2000 I would of expected better.

Just wait until customs is finished with it. The import taxes will make you swallow your tongue. Last time customs here caught me "importing" scuba gear they tried charging me something like 19% plus some kind of import duty. I told them to send it back because I wasn't paying, which they did, and then I got the supplier to send it again. The second time it slipped through. The whole process took 6 weeks.

Maybe if you're lucky it'll slip through the first time.

For anything over a couple of hundred $$, I never order using an online tool, but rather call on the phone. Many stores of all types on the internet just don't have the ordering software down pat...(Just my suggestion for next time...)

Not only do I want the order to be correct, but I want to assess the competence level of the folks at the other end.

Also, the emailed invoice has a tracking number for UPS (which is their normal delivery method) and that tracking number is valid. Are you sure it went FedEx? I didn't even see that as a choice on the LP web page.

I recently called LP for a relatively high priced order ($1100) and the invoice they emailed me was perfect, I got some $$ off the total price, and the things are on the way....

However, I will admit that I will be in your camp if the items are not as ordered, when they arrive tomorow (Wednesday).

Good luck!

Sean

I've ordered several things from LP including my main regulator. I usually get the stuff within a day of ordering it, since I'm in Boston and they are in NY. I've never had any trouble returning products or receiving incorrect orders.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

difficulties with LP. That must be so frustrating!

I've ordered several things from them recently (although tiny in cost-wise compared to your large order) and I've always had great service, a tracking number, and quick delivery. But I am also in the US, so that makes a difference I am sure.

I hope that your order arrives and that you don't have any more problems. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Good luck

Sorry to hear about your experience with them. I do agree that anytime someone orders from "mail order companies" that you do it over the phone. You get more personal service and there is less chance of software crashing and screwing up your order. I personally have ordered almost $2000 in the past couple months and no problems. When I have E-mailed them questions they have responded within 24 hours. I would like to think this is an isolated incident you are experiencing. Lets us know the outcome.

I always order online, and then call after I order to make sure they get it right.

When you order over the phone, the guy taking the orders is going to be putting it in the computer over there.

When you do it yourself you can actually double check for yourself.

I've had nothing but great experiences with getting gear from Leisure Pro. Prices always beat everyone else by a good amount and the service has been great>

I've had great luck with LP, that said no business is ever perfect all the time. I expect the distance of shipping is your major problem, I'd hang in there, I'd be willing to bet real money that they will take care of your issues. Good Luck, Jeff

I've also order a few things through LP over the last year and have no problems so far. Fedex came over night, paid some duty (I figure I can't really dodge that one) and all's well.

I've had good luck with LP.

With the benefits of hindsight I would have saved a BUNCH of money that I spent at an LDS with much less satisfactory service.

Sorry you experienced a problem with LP. I've placed a number of orders both on line and via phone without any difficulties. I placed an order on line only to call the next day to change the item. I was expecting that order to be goofed up, but no problems....

Do you remember how much you paid? What percentage? I'm just wondering how much to add onto the price. Free trade indeed!

Don't forget that LP is owned and opperated by Orthodox people. Which means if any of the times you tried to contact them in ANY manner between sundown friday and sundown saturday you would not get a response.

This is not a bash just a heads up on the issue.

Sometimes after reading threads about LP it runs through my head to act as a clearing house for Scuba Board posters through them. That is to say place your orders with me, Ill goto the store and pick it up and ship it to ya myself! (For a fee of course hehehe). Maybe lie about the value of the items for over seas shipping so you avoid import taxes and stuff...But then I realize just how much darn work that would all be!

Hrmmm maybe an alternate deal...You send me the money, I pick it up for you and DELIVER it to your house myself and my fee would just be you have to take me diving with ya when I delivere it! How would that sound to y'all? ;)

True enough, but I received an email confirmation of my phone placed order within a few hours of finalizing the order that contained an itemized invoice which gave me assurances that my order was not screwed up in the translation from voice to digital. :goofy:

It is my opinion that speaking with a person and having them quote the order is much better than me wondering if anyone is actually processing the online orders....and, I did get an item for free, and a discounted price on the rest...(not much, but worth significantly more than the price of the phone call...which I believe was toll-free...heh).

But, everyone has different experiences....

Cheers,

Sean

I think it's generally around 20%, which may be a combination of duty and sales taxes. It seems to be that way with whatever I buy from the US. Still ends up being cheaper, and now that the US greenback has weakened a fair bit, it's even more cheaper than before. But I am in Canada and you are in Korea, so I don't know what you'd be charged.

Yeah but I'm Canadian and my parents are coming to visit next fall. Scuba gear is a "luxury" item here so customs charges 55%.

I've also had good experiences with them, so far. Placed
two on-line orders and had them both within 2 business days (I live in New Jersey).

I've had good experiences with LP too. I just purchased a computer from them and last month two dive lights. They always post my order on-line so I can check it. I'm sure no biz. is perfect all the time, not that I'm making an excuse for them but seems most are posting good experiences  .

Better luck next time:upset: ,

Just an update...

All my items arrived on time, and appear to be functional....Now, if I could just figure out how the rec wings mount to the Transpac II, I'd be set...

Any takers? (Why is the fill tube on the back of the wing instead of the front? This makes it have to come over my left shoulder....)

--Sean

Because when you're diving, that's the highest point on the wing. This allows you to make sure you can get all the air out of the BC.

I should have figured that out...

My mind is fogged by all of the new toys...

The Suunto computer rocks!

Wow, I wasen't expecting such a large response from people on the issue, thanks to everyone for showing their interest in another persons problems, it goes to show what a great group of people hang around on this board :)

There have been new developments on the topic though that I think are 'interesting' to say the least, I'll be posting them up here shortly just to keep you in the know :) -I'll put it in a new thread since this ones kind of died off and gotten siddetracked now towards the inevietable scubaboard BP wings conversation ;)

Anyway thanks for the friendly feedback, there was less smoke coming out of my ears once I had read everyones nice comments :)
