My favorite giant-stride entry. We nicknamed it the testosterone leap.

Great pic!

So, tell me.. just how far down IS that "giant stride"? Shouldn't there be parachutes involved? ;)

With the water level dropping every year it seems to take more nerve to do the jump:D

Not to mention the old pilings you have to make sure you miss!

Actually the tricky part is the water is getting rather thin!

Anyone who may be coming to Sarnia this weekend be advised that the normal dive area is likley going to be clsed off due to the construction south of the bridge. There are a couple of options including a back way in to the CSL area. If you want details then PM me.

Also Redwing nut, I found a rather nice dive knife near the CSL pilings Monday night so if someone in your group lost it let me know.

Otherwise I am making a sleeve for it:)

I could never understand why guys would do that jump!!
If you walk 10' feet to your left you can just walk into the water and not take the chance of wrecking your dive.
I saw a young guy do that jump about 13 years ago when he hit the water his tank hit him in the head and split his head open and he lost his mask, panic set in and it took 3 of us to get his dumb ass out of the water and 6 stitches to close the wound on his head......
Nice picture though

It has been awhile since u have been there. U can't get in on the side now and the stairs on the right were ripped out a couple of years ago

LOL... :D there I go showing my old age again.

How do you get out now if you can't get in or out on the side?
Do they still have the cable that goes to the Monarch and the barge?

The cable to the Monarch is still there and right in front of that jump. You get out at the CSL docks next to the Casino and walk up

Actually you can get out just around the corner on the south side. It is tricky climbing over rocks but can be done. Not really safe to go in that way.

The cable to the barge is gone, we will be replacing it in the next week or two. I think the ice takes it out.

Access is still restricted due to construction of a parking lot/park just south of the bridge. Expected completion is late June. There is a back way in that we are using.

It wasnt the Ice that took out that cable. It happened last August.
A few of us were going to do a night dive and a couple of us were already doing the barge/Monarch dive. I guess the vis was so bad and the current so strong that one of the divers was using the thin cable on the barge to hold on and it broke.:(
