I recently purchased a DS-51 for my G10/Ikelite setup. I am very impressed with the ball socket arm and overall quality of the system. I was wondering what the normal procedure for cleaning and storing Sync cords are. Should I remove the o-rings from the chords and store them in a plastic bag "as I do with the housing and strobe orings"? Or should I just clean them off and lightly grease them? Also there was a double sided black thread connector which came with the system. Should I screw both ends of the sync cords into that during storage? Any info, tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

I just leave the lubricated o-rings at both ends and thread these into the black covers. My cord is still fine after five years.

I agree with Swordfish. Remove, clean, grease and replace after a dive or trip. Leave them with the black covers screwed on - the covers are designed to be left screwed on without deforming the O rings.
