Necklaced reg hose length?

Just trying to switch to a long hose config (with some difficulties).

I got the 22" hose for the necklaced reg but, using a single, this feels too long. It extends over my shoulder and looks like it could easily lose 4".

Has anyone tried a shorter setup here?

Am I missing something?

I got the 22" hose and its just fine. If it were any shorter it would probably tug some when I turned my head to the other side.

Have you measured that hose that you got to make sure it is 22"?

...is 24". It has been snagged before. If I wasn't so dang impatient, I would have got the 22". Another 2 inches looks like it would definately help.

I think I just need to get in the water and try it. 'Living room diving' is not much of a test....
