Does anyone know why there is typically a groove around the "tank banger" on a dive knife? Better acoustics maybe?
Yes I'm a little bored today. :D

Jeblis June 5th, 2003, 04:39 PM Does anyone know why there is typically a groove around the "tank banger" on a dive knife? Better acoustics maybe? Yes I'm a little bored today. :D Walter June 5th, 2003, 04:49 PM Please explain what you mean. Jeblis June 5th, 2003, 05:22 PM On the butt end of many dive knifes is a metal stub that can be used to bang on a tank to make noise. Many of them have a groove that runs around it. I was just wondering why the groove would be there. Here is one with one: Walter June 5th, 2003, 05:38 PM You are correct. Jeblis June 5th, 2003, 10:30 PM Thanks. Now I can be the Cliff Clavin of our dive club. :) Uncle Pug June 5th, 2003, 10:39 PM Jeblis once bubbled... a metal stub that can be used to bang on a tank to make noise. That isn't to make noise... though it does... that there is a paint chipper. Fireguy274 September 22nd, 2003, 06:54 PM wow you can reach your tank..lol
