Obviously if I see a grouper, snapper, triggerfish, I will go after that first! My question is though, if there aren't any of them hanging out.... what would you look for next? Would you go for an AmberJack? (I hear the meat isn't that good) what about the Atlantic spadefish? Are they any good? What else should I be looking for this time of year... 15 miles offshore... 80 feet of water... On a wreck....

Thanks!

Cobia, yellow tail jack, sheeps head, hog fish all are very good on the grill.

Spade fish taste like junk, but your mileage may vary. I don't shoot AJ's on the east coast. Ours just have to many worms and it's a trophy fish for pictures but just ends up being 30 pounds of smoked fish dip. The gulf side AJ's are much better.
