I have seen various posts stating that to get a better job as a resort destination scuba instructor it helps to speak another language(s). I am curious as to which languages (besides English) would be the most beneficial for an instructor to know in the following locations:

Carribean

S.E. Asia

S. Pacific/Phillipines

I know people from all over the world visit these places but if you could only speak one other language besides English which language would help the most in landing a job in these areas. Thanks.

Knowing some good ole boy's from Mississippi, I'd throw in
English as a second language. I know that was what I was told I needed to learn.

LOL. No doubt. You think they would know what I was talking about if I said "we are fixin' to leave ".

SEA = swedish, german and french or the local language of course.

Caribbean: English, with French a distant second

S.E. Asia: French or German

Phillipines & most of Pacific: Japanese

I would say Spanish...

The Philipino language (Tagalog) is somehow close to spanish and you find many schools in Philippines teaching spanish...

As for the Carebean... I think Spanish is good (and French)... if you learn SPanish or French you can easily learn the other language...

Nothing beats the Universal Language though... $$$ :)
