Firerescueguy July 8th, 2009, 09:50 AM Does anyone on here know if The Cozumel Fire Department trades or sells FD t-shirts? outtair July 8th, 2009, 11:16 AM My experience with Third World FD's is they do not have extras to trade. This is their true work shirt given by the Dept. These guys do not have the money to make up shirts on their own. I am sure they will give you a tour and would want one of yours but do not hold your breath for one of theirs. Been there tried it many times. Outtair agdiver July 8th, 2009, 11:51 AM A previous thread mentioned that they do trade t-shirts. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/cozumel/281146-antique-fire-truck-info-needed.html Jim Baldwin July 8th, 2009, 05:10 PM Does anyone on here know if The Cozumel Fire Department trades or sells FD t-shirts? Just in case you didn't know the Fire Department is located on Juarez about a half a block west of 65th St. just down from the Giant Conch Shell. teknitroxdiver July 8th, 2009, 06:39 PM Bomberos is the word you're looking for, if you didn't know already. bhalah July 8th, 2009, 07:00 PM Bomberos is the word you're looking for, if you didn't know already. Sorry for being dense here, but is bomberos the word for tshirt? tk trekers July 8th, 2009, 07:48 PM Sorry for being dense here, but is bomberos the word for tshirt? :rofl3: Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh at that. Bomberos is the word for firefighters. Camiseta is the word for T-shirt. I would like to know if they do sell them, I'd like to get one for my Dad when I'm there in October. Fireboat57 July 9th, 2009, 04:21 PM A few years back I stopped by the station and chatted with the guys. My spanish is muy mal and they didn't have any extra department t's for sale. The guy asked me if I was a bombero voluntario and, not knowing the term for paid guy, I shook my head and said "no, yo soy bombero puta" he got it and laughed, took off his duty t and gave it to me. I gave him my new department shirt and some cash. These guys don't make much money and the department is dirt poor. You can buy Playa FD shirts near the ferry terminal, the guys there have figured out that it can make a few bucks. Like some of the other departments down there they may have a US or Canadian department that has adopted them. The department that I retired from sends a lot of stuff and does some training with departments on the Baja. I understand that the uniforms that get sent down still have patches and name tapes on them. matthewjen July 9th, 2009, 11:11 PM The FD in cozumel is one of my favorite stops. In my trips there they have always welcomed me in graciously. I was lucky enough to score a couple on the last trip and always get asked about them. Even if they don't have any shirts it is still a great stop to make and see the way they operate. you will really appreciate the difference in how they operate. And in recent years it seems they have made major progressions during my visits there.
