Well - fresh from the dive today and we had a really good time. Express Watersports (Scuba Express) can be recommended. The dive op works out of Murrels Inlet which is about 15 miles south of MB. They have a nice 46' dive boat with 5 crew and today was light on divers with only 10 (4 were spear fishing).

City of Richmond was a late 1800 steam liner that was being towed to the Virgin Island for conversion to a restaurant and sank in 1964 during a storm. It is located south east from the dive op and took a good 90 minutes to reach. YouTube - The City of Richmond

Ocean was a bit rough (7 ft waves) on the ride out and even with dramamine, I almost lost it. The boat moored to the wreck making it an easy decent/ascent. We took Mayor's recommendation and arranged for an instructor to dive with us. It was $35 per person but really eliminated some stress and made the dive very enjoyable. Joe from Scuba express did a great job being there but letting us gain experience during the dive. He showed us around the wreck and pointed out different critters and fish hiding in the wreck.

Air temp was 85 F and water temp was 74 F at the bottom, viz 20-25 ft, current was mild most of the dive but as tide went out, you could notice the increased current. The wreck is broken up with lots of pieces on the bottom. Fish were abundant seeing 4ft barracudas, grouper, 3 ft jack fish, angel fish and many others not recognized.

Overall experience was great getting two more dives under our belts. The dive op was helpful but agree if you are novice divers, I strongly recommend spending the extra money for the guide. It made our experience much better! :D
