A number of years ago I saw a documentary where the divers had these sticks that appeared to be spring loaded that they kept with them for protection. When a predator came too close they pushed a button and the stick bumped the predator with the impact of a 22 caliber. Does anyone out there know what this was ?

There have been some pole spears made that have a trigger lock. You still have to cock the band first. Because the Bahamas does not allow triggers, and they cost more than a regular pole spear, they never became real popular.

Power heads have been attached to pole spears as well, with many different calibers available, but a plain pole spear is enough to turn a predator away.

Thanks. I am familiar with spring loaded polespears. This was a little different. As I recall it was about 18" long and an inch or two indiameter. It resembled a police officer's night stick with out the handle.
