Just a little info on diving in Dubai:

Dubai has some good wreck dives but not much coral. The east coast, Khor Fakkan, has more coral and the diving is considered better. The water temp is also cooler. In Dubai the summer temp is in the 40s and the water temp is around 36. If you have the time and ability try to dive in the mussandam area. Although actually in Oman, you can leave from the port in Dibba near Khor Fakkan and you do not need a visa. There is also a Hostel in Khor Fakkan that is pretty cheap. If you have any questions or need some info just ask.

Hello,

I'm travelling to Iran on occassion for business. I was planning to check out the diving possibilities in Iran on my next trip (somewhere end of September comming - so buddies ???).
I know their is a diving facility in Kish Island (South of Iran) but never succeeded to have contact or received any reaction. They have some Padi instructor I think (qualified in Malaysia I think). Do not know anything about the conditions and equipment or regulations ... but I'm very much interested to receive any kind of info ...
Kish Island is a coral island, for your info ... temperatures reach easily 45°C in midsummer and otherwise 30 - 35°C

I'm a CMAS 2* diver with Advanced Nitrox and 100+ dives.

Their are several planes/day from-to Dubai, so info on diving in and around Dubai would be welcome aswell.

hello,

I ve been to Iran last summer but had way too much to do. So didnt see any chance to dive :shakehead

Anyway I spoke to different people. The sights are supposed to be really nice. Unfortunatly that cannot be said about the equipment they have there. I dive only doubles. So I have an halcyon Explorer and double regs... So I asked for doubles and all people I could contact said they didnt have any such equipment.

Also I heard some vague story about they filling their tanks in the local hospital but according to some other guy that was rubbish. Anyhow this summer I will probably go to Iran for a month again. And this time I definitly go and check it out.

I went diving at the East Coast of UAE last month - in Khor Fakkan. Great diving there, and I can really recommend Divers Down (www.diversdown.tk). Great op, really nice and professional people - and they are only 5-10 boat minutes from the best dive sites. They can also arrange liveaboards in Mussandam

I'll def go back....and I'll def go with them again.....

Karin you are very right!! diving in khorfakkan is great i was diving there yesterday (friday) it was amazing, if you arethinking if visting again let me know we dive with another diving center which is as good..very good prices.. and we are also palnning a trip to oma by next month..since the weather is getting better & better!!

Brutally hot is actually the right word to use!! Tempuratures would range between 45 - 50. However humidity is what really bothers us in Dubai.. Yet we live here so we are kind of immune to it.. :crafty:

Till now we are only 2 divers & about 5 snorkellers.. so if you are interested in joining email me on zfallah@dafza.gov.ae or post a quick reply!

Equipment will be arranged by each diver (you might want to check Scuba Dubai, or Scuba Pro in Karama), will let you know later today how much is the boat trip (should be around 125 Dirhams (coffee & tea) served on boat.

Fri 13th? I was at Martini Rock on a Dhow with 7 students, 1 assistant instructor and a DM... It was beatiful!!!

This friday, I am planning 3 dives off of the sharjah coast with the same group in order to finish a deep dive for the advanced and then Dive 3 & 4 for the open water guys... we will probably do Dara and Baracuda Barge and the deep dive would probably be Zahra... not sure yet...

Kish is an island in the Persian Gulf owned by Iran. Kish is a free zone so you do not require a visa to enter. The water temperature in June is average 30 C. With land temperatures reaching around 45 C. The island has many coral reef dive sites and fantastic visibility.

Some more info:
I can surely recommend Diversdown to dive the Emirates East coast, or just as a dive trip from Dubai. They have 3 dives a day I believe. www.diverwdown.tk

any advice on a good dive centre for Musandam?

did my OW with Al Boom in November and have now logged 11 dives in Fujairah and Bar Al Jissah (Oman). wanted to get a decent number of dives under my belt before I attempted Musandam. Will do 2 more on the East Coast on Saturday.

Hello / bar salam doostan,

As you all know the last time I planned to go dive I was hindered. Now I am planning to go back to Iran and I will certainly go a week to Kish!

I have made a list of dive schools in Iran:

When I get back in 4 weeks from now I will update my blog and post the link here together with pictures. That is at least if everything goes according plan and I get my visa permit on time.

I will let you all know about my review!

Hello everybody,

This is a late reply to the posts but still anybody interested in Diving in Iran just send me a line.
We do dives alot and we have lots of dive sites, and all kind ofequipments, Double (2 x 12 or more) but the only gas we got here is AIR.

Suggested to bring your full equipmenst along as hiring them will cost a lot but you got your gears it will be cheap and I mean cheap.

I was diving now round 10 years as a commercial diver/supervisor also Instructor of different agencies like: ITDA, BSAC, SSI, PADI, CMAS.... I am also CCR & SCR + Trimix & Nitrox instructor over 5000 dives under belt, dived in North Sea, Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf and lots of inland water of IRAN and supervised over 4000 Hours of diving without any accident.
