One peeve - don't count on old CDs for reflective signaling. They apparently don't work well, and the reflective surface don't stay reflective for long:
EQUIPPED TO SURVIVE (tm) - SIGNALING GROUP
Important caveat about signal mirrors - i.e. they're may or may not perform optimally when wet:

and a mention of the rescue streamer:
