What's a good first BC?

Can someone tell me what is a fair priced good first time BC, where to buy online, and what makes the expensive ones so much better than the moderately priced ones. What would Consumer Reports call their choice for the best all around Best Buy if they rated them. How much does it run? :confused:
 
Good first BC for what? Warm water? Cold water? Local diving? Airline travel? Wetsuit diving? Drysuit diving? Future tech aspirations?

My overall best buy would be a backplate and wings, but again, you would need to answer the above questions in order to get the most suitable backplate and wings for your needs.

Same goes for the BC - how are you planning to use it?
