If you are a member of PADI then login, and go to the members toolbox. You can enter their name and number to see if they are certified, and insured to teach. Or just call them - 800 729 7234

You don't need to be a member of PADI; however, you will need to ask the potential instructor for their number (and if they are unwilling to give this to you: find a new instructor!)
