I'm a Fish!
Hey yall, Just a quick question... I usually dive alu 80's and am neutral buoyant at 500 psi.. I am switching to Steel 100's this weekend... what would be a good starting point as far as how much lead to remove for my first dive....

:D

Thanks, D

-6 pounds is a good starting point for AL80 => HP100.

A Luxfer AL 80 is +4.4 empty while a 3442 psi steel 100 will be between -1.0 and -2.5 depending on who made it, so removing 6 pounds is where to start and you may find you need to remove an additional pound.

- 5lbs works for me.

Forgot HP100's were negative. Odd in that I dive them frequently. Yet another oddity is the significant negative weight of Faber's HP100. They usually are on the light end of the spectrum within the industry...

thanks so much all..... i will start with 6#'s that is what i was thinking just needed to hear it from the pro's

Faber's 3180 psi service pressure tank is a 3AA steel tank that is 3498 psi with the 10% overfill. It is heavy due to the 3AA engineering standard it uses.

Thier other 3442 psi 100 cu ft tank is -.6 lbs buoyanct when empty and is a pound or two lighter than pst and worthington 3442 psi 100 cu ft tanks.
