I'll be there in early September - can anyone from there or who has dived there recommend the level of exposure protection required?

I am guessing it is a bit colder than my previous Med experience - Cyprus in August!

You can ask here - Destination Plongée // Hyère
Temp may change in two-three days - depends on wind. In my case it was 26C to 14C in a week. Anyway 5 mm was OK. They used to have rental ones 5 to 7mm.
