Technical Class at Bonne Terre Mine

Bonne Terre Mine now has Tech Classes, my wife and I just finished Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures what a great place to get your tech cert's. We also have taken the Cavern Class there, it was unbelieveable.

I was under the impression that in the past they did not allow dive lights there? I guess this has changed? Do they offer other overhead classes there now, and what depths can you get to in the Mine?

More importantly, will they now let Full Cave certified divers off the main tourist routes?

The mine has 24 guided trails that are done in sequence with each getting more advanced, but you are not able to explore on your own.

Can you please give some more details on the class? I'm seriously considering doing these classes at Bonne Terre.

I know the water temp, no problem. Is there sufficient depth to actually put you into deco or is it simulated deco? What kind of depth did they take you to? Did you do it on a large single with a sling bottle or doubles and a deco cyl?

I spoke to the instructor today. He made it sound like a great course but I would rather hear details from someone that has actually been through it.

when I was their it was told to me that the more dive's you made the more leeway you had as far as diving on your own. an yes they do let you bring your own lights in now.
And on a side note...have they ever found the missing diver's or is this an urban legend?

mavoneThat's an option of you are a local zip code diver, but not real useful for out of state divers who will only spend a few days in the area. It will work against it ever becoming an intentional technical diving destination.

doubles,stage bottle(s,) real deco, lift bag deployment with reels use. I would suggest the cavern course to start this will give you a better feel for the training. Reel use, line drills, air sharing with 7' hose, etc.
