We have a TDI Visual Tank inspection class September 18th at 8am at the store.

During the TDI Visual Inspection Procedures course you will learn to promote safety in the care and maintenance of high-pressure scuba cylinders by way of your SDI Instructor and a comprehensive Visual Inspection Procedures manual. One of the goals is to raise the consciousness of the industry to the need to meet and exceed the minimum standards established by local Regulations. Another goal is to train inspectors in the proper handling, filling, and inspection techniques including the identification of the various defective conditions that can lead to cylinder rejection or condemnation. The Student will be required to have proper Visual Inspection Equipment to take the class so that in the future, they have the proper tools to do a proper Visual Inspection.
Additional Visual Inspection Equipment needed for class(equipment requirements may vary with each specialty course)
The Visual Tank Inspection Certification class includes:

Instruction
Classroom sessions
Certification processing fees
Books

Books are included in the price of $250. Please call to sign up in advance so we can send your books for home study before class.

Mike,

Besides the greater understanding of the process and requirements what else are you getting for $250? Can you vis your own tanks after that? What else is needed as far as equipment for or after the class?

You can Viz your own tanks with the proper equipment. Equipment is gone over in class and anywhere from $100-1000 depending on what you decide to go with. Most likely $100-200 though.

You can viz your own tanks, we will be offering TANK VIZ PARTIES though. This is aimed at those that took the class, but do not do enough tanks per year to be fully comfortable checking their own tanks. These parties are done at the shop, under indirect supervision of an Instructor. You get to use the shop equipment, shop VIZ stickers, and be comfortable while still being able to ask for help if you "see something" ....that is a quick run thru of the VIZ Party...hope that clarifies it a bit. The parties are a good thing. Some people do 1-2 tanks per year, and have no clue what they are really looking for. This allows you for a small fee to re-learn and do it in a fun group setting with food and others at the shop to BS with...a really fun day ;)
