Attention Vintage divers and Minimalists.
We are putting together a meet and greet at the breakwater in Monterey on Saturday October 3rd, 2009. We will be meeting up on the upper lawn area at 9:00 am. Look for divers with vintage gear and double hose regulators.
If you're a vintage diver or have always been curious about old school vintage diving and want to see how diving used to be, stop by.
I will be doing a Freedom Plate demo at the same time, so if you have ever been curious about the Freedom Plate this will be your chance to see one and dive it.
**Note: I you wish to try a Freedom Plate I have an extra rig set up and ready to dive. You will need to bring your regulator and a weight belt. If you do not have a weight belt I will have a few extra in different weight configurations. Weight belts can always be adjusted on the spot to suit the diver.
Also, if you use an air2, I cannot accomodate divers with air2 set ups. My wings are standard inflators. I use Oxycheq Mach V's.
If you bring your own wing that already has an air2 on it, then you would be fine. My plate will accomodate all Oxycheq wings, DSS wings, Diverite wings, and others. Wings must have built in slots to work with the Freedom Plate.
I will have you fill out and sign a waiver/ liability release form, then we can go dive. I also ask that brand new divers please sit this demo out. I would like to have divers with at least 50 dives and preferably some Hog harness experience. If you are an experienced diver but have only dove jacket BC's that's OK, we can go over the techniques for using a Hog harness (actually very simple and easy). I just want divers with a high comfort level in the water.
This is not a class, it's just a demo.
We will be having a barbecue for participants after the diving and demos.
