Would there be any concerns with going from PADI OW to NAUI AOW?

I am pretty sure that at the non-pro cert level, everything pretty much directly transfers. You can do NAUI rescue and have it count for PADI rescue and the other way around, if I recall correctly.

For the professional certifications, that is no longer the case. As each agency teaches their instructors and DM's in light of their own particular instructional materials and methodologies.

We are a dual agency dive center - both PADI and NAUI and we teach the full range of both agencies up to and including divemaster and we also train NAUI Instructors.

Crossing over from PADI OW to NAUI Advanced is non-issue just as Kingpatzer said. We have many students who take their PADI OW and then go straight on to take their NAUI Advanced. We find the NAUI Advanced is the most popular.

Here is a break down of the differences:
PADI Adv is 5 training dives, NAUI 6 training dives.
PADI Max depth for Advanced is 30m/100ft whereas NAUI's is 40m/130ft.
NAUI also require that rescue skills (dealing with unresponsive diver underwater and giving inwater resuscitation or rescue breaths on the surface) are taught and PADI does not.

At the professional level with NAUI we can crossover a PADI DM to a NAUI DM and we can crossover a PADI (or other agency) to also become a NAUI Instructor. PADI does not offer a crossover as Kingpatzer said.

You can mail me directly if you would like more information.
