I'm a total newb to spearfishing, living in SE fla.
All of my hunting will take place in less than 20 feet of water. Hogfish, mutton snapper and the likes will be my quarry.
I picked up a fairly new JBL Explorer for less than $50.
It needs a new band and I figured I can add a little power by buying a 5/8 band instead of a 9/16.
Is it feasible to add 2 bands to this gun to extend it's range?
Is it even possible?

Any other recommendations?

I know what most of you hardcore spearos are going to say and.......No, I'm not returning it to buy a better gun......LOL
If I decide I really like spearfishing, I'll invest in a better gun then.

try it stock with the 9/16 band and see how it feels.if the gun comes stock with one band,it will shoot better with just the one band.keep a sharp tip.I would try a 5/8 band, its not that much bigger.but Im not telling you to try it.
