In the TDI advanced trimix qualification, would I be correct in assuming that you are qualified to dive past 100m? or is it UP to 100m? because i have had mixed reports on this topic,

cheers,
Ben

I don't think there is a card that certifies you beyond 100m...............I think that if you have experience enough at/around 100m, you probably will be fine beyond that too. But that is my take.

so therefore im guessing its up to you when you decide to take the risks into your own hands and dive beyond the limit?

The risks of diving are ALWAYS in your hands!

Regardless of what cards you carry, what buddy is along, or what the DM says, etc. Accept the risks or don't dive. If you aren't properly trained or experienced then you are not fully imformed of the risks and can't (by definition) actually accept them.

Just to throw another into the mix:

UTD Trimix Diver Gold Rating – The Trimix Diver Gold rating continues to ensure that the diver is capable of diving multiple stage bottles and multiple decompression bottles and increases the maximum depth for a student from 250'/75m to 330'/100m +, which is essentially an unlimited depth restriction for the holder of this card.

Just to throw another into the mix:

This one is just admitting that once you're diving at the 100m level operators aren't checking your C-cards. Cause you are hiring the boat/skipper yourself. They know you to be competent from prior trips, you've provided diving resumes, etc. All of these other "soft" screening and evaluation mechanisms are in full force well before 100m. So if you want dive a 150m wreck the capacity to do so is a collaborative decision between the divers, skipper, crew, weather, authorities (e.g. Brittanic) etc.

sorry i didnt mean to say the risks are never in your hands but obviously there is increased risk that you are accepting if you are diving beyond a depth you are qualified to.
I hadnt realised there was such a program as expedition trimix, interesting, looks like its a fairly rare occurence to find one of these courses! and only 5000+ dollars down ;) haha
