I have a pair of Scubapro Jet Fins, and I love them. Looking around online I see that there's a handful of other companies that make similar fins, all rubber and designed for "alternate kicks".
Have any of you tried the other ones, I was wondering how they compare.

If only they could get the sizing right for XXL jets!!!
I sit right between XL and XXL sizes, and am constantly looking for the perfect fin - so have tried a few similar fins.
Turtles fit better, but I find them too soft.
Slipstreams fit perfectly, but I find them too stiff.
Rockets seem like hard work, not quite sure why?
I hear good things about the Hollis F1, and tempted to order a pair - but can't quite work out which size....

Check out the DIR forum. I had issues finding comfy blades and settled on Hollis fins. There is some discussion on sizing.

Sounds like it'd be easier to just buy an x/ss/gavin and stop worrying about the perfect fin...you're a DIR practitioner, you know about using the best tool for the job! :dontknow:

Yeah, I've just got my drysuit replaced under warranty and have got different boots.... hoping this will make it easier to pick the right size.

It's on the shopping list for 2010!! My only problem is that I have to buy two of everything to keep the wife happy and fins are a bit cheaper! :tired:

I usually go "all rubber" when looking for "alternate" kicks.
It keeps the hoses clean and ready for the next dive.

If I am remembering correctly, my impression was that the Hollis were even softer than Turtles. I may be wrong. It was a while ago and my buddy and I only switched fins for a few mins in shallow water after the dive.

I bought a pair of Turtles to try out and put them back in the packaging after about 5 kicks.

The OMS Slipstreams are monprene instead of rubber, and quite a bit lighter in the water than the Jets. They're finally available in L, as well as XL and XXL, and work very well for me in a light wet suit. I'll be trying them with my dry suit this weekend.

I've been using Turtles for about six years now and love 'em.
I recently got a different type of boot put on one of my suits that lets me use a fin with a smaller foot pocket. Since this is going to be my "travel" suit, I purchased a pair of OMS Slipstreams (size XL) due to their lighter weight. I'll be trying them out in the Florida caves next week. I did use a set about a year and a half ago in Indonesia for a 17-day, 54-dive trip ... and loved 'em. But that was in a warm-water environ with wetsuit and single AL80 ... which is much different than a drysuit and twin 130's.

Like Andy, I am a Jet XL/XXL "tweener."
Maybe.
When I as first making the purchase, I found that with any kind of common boot for a dry suit, I could not get into an XL, and the XXL was too big. I thus went with Turtles. I guess they are OK--I really don't have all that much experience with other fins to compare.
Since then, some of my friends have taken to wearing old fashioned (Converse Chuck Taylor All Star) athletic shoes (we used to call them "sneakers") instead of conventional dive boots. I believe that if I were to switch to that mode of dress, I could wear the Jets. (And they come in basic black!)
Of course, that means I would have to purchase a new pair of fins and spring straps (In addition to the Cons), and put away a perfectly good pair of Turtles. Right now I am pouring so much money into gear that I really need that I don't feel a compelling urge to drop the Turtles.

Slipstreams work really well for me. Stiffer than Jets and lighter. I still prefer Jets but the marketing wizards left a huge gap in sizes between XL and XXL. -won't fit my DUI turbosoles.
You can get some of the flex back into Slipstreams with a rotary sander, but there isn't much you can do about the weight. Just evenly reduce the outer stiffening ridges (all four) on each fin starting from the tip. Looks to me like OMS just used a Jetfin mold without taking the stiffer monoprene into consideration. But at least they fit!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that someone heated up a steel toed shoe or something, jammed it into a Jet, and reshaped it permanently.
