One difference is that I've never heard of any fish called "cobra fish" Where have you heard that name?

Me neither. For a Red Sea marine life index, take a look at Red Sea marine life index from Red Sea Shadow (http://www.red-sea-shadow.com/flora_fauna.htm)

If you google for images of "Pesce cobra" I believe you'll find it's the italian word for lionfish.

Maybe the OP is looking for the difference between Pterois volitans and Pterois miles, which according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterois_miles) are often confused.
