Hi everybody,

Do you want to be a part of the history?
Help us set new world record and promote our sport to the public.

The whole world is going to make a night dive December 3rd at 8:09pm local time.

More on the initiative Diversnight 2009

You are welcome to register any dive location by simply doing the dive you will be a part of this event.

Night diving is special, and non-divers are easily amazed by it. Diversnight 2009 is about promoting our superfantastic sport while having a great time. :)

Close to 200 dive sites now... Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Egypt, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Italy, Germany, France, Thailand, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Australia, Scotland are all represented in the event!

Your country isn't on the list, and you'd like to do something about it, you say? Great! :) Just go to www.diversnight.com, register a new dive location, tell the local dive club and shop, invite all your friends, familiy and co-workers, and make them do the same. Remember that non-divers are divers who haven't started diving yet. Show them a good time.

Oh, by the way.. Ursuit is giving away a Heavy Light Cordura FZ/RedQ drysuit to 5 random Diversnight divers (they have to be fans of Ursuit and Diversnight on Facebook). Lots of other prizes too! :)

I'm actually going to bump this thread, and hopefully get someone's attention.

:depressed: Cozumel does not offer night dive on Friday evening...

Who's bright idea was it to hold it in December?

Anyone in socal doing this? If so I would be willing to join you but with grad school I am too busy to cooridinate the event.

Who's bright idea was it to hold it in December?

Australians perhaps?

MODERATOR: Please change title on this thread to indicate this is a CURRENT 2012 event.
Thanks!!

Divers Night 2012 is Thursday, Nov 1!!

It originated in Norway & it's been a lot of fun. Divers Night under the ice in 2010 was brilliant & beatiful, but too many wussie lightweights cancelled instead of going out & enjoying it, so now the event is held a month earlier. Less ice but still good fun!

The idea is that at every dive site all participants are to be underwater at 20:12 (get it? 20:12 in 2012) that's 8:12 PM local time. NOTE: LOCAL time, no time zones no GMT, no daylight savings, none of those things matter because we're talking LOCAL time.

Diversnight

DIVERSNIGHT 2012 Summer is officially over, at least here in the Nordic countries. Its getting colder and darker- but that only means Diversnight is not far away.

It will be some changes this year with registration and prizes.
Because this wonderful event has grown so much, it is not possible for us to organize everything. But we do encourage our dive clubs and shops to arrange this night and maybe do something special for the local divers.
Information about registration etc will be in Facebook soon. For the moment spread the word and ask everyone to participate!
LINK to the facebook event

This year we WILL break the record from 2009-
We were 2749 divers on 218 dive sites in 20 countries.

It does not matter if you are a big dive club in Norway or a couple of Divers on a sailboat in the Caribbean

But what matters is that you plan to be under water November 1. 2012 at 20:12

Get your club to arrange a social evening of night diving and cake.
THE REGISTRATION FORM CLOSES OCTOBER 31st 22:00 CET
(CET is Central European Time = 2 PM EST
Eastern Standard Time)
Registration closes Oct 31 at
2 PM Eastern Standard Time!
Register in time so you can participate!!

The 8th annual Diversnight event will take place in November 1rd at locations all over the world! The date is now changed one month earlier in order to avoid weather related problems especially in the Nordic countries. In 2010 we had a great number of dive locations covered with ice and the temperature was even down to –20 °C.

Diversnight is a free-of-charge gathering and is made possible thanks to voluntary work and helpful sponsors.

Diversnight is a social event, well known for example for the excellent cakes (especially a Norwegian Diversnight tradition) and great prizes.

Diversnight is a great way to show the public and potential divers how diving is not only a hobby for sunny and warm days. It is also way to get divers from different clubs and countries making something BIG together
