View Full Version : Need Tank and Weight rental in Akumal area

Group,
I'm looking for information and suggestions for renting tanks and weights in the Akumal/Tulum area of the Riviera Maya. We are renting a beach house and in addition to guided dives out of Akumal, we would like to dive the Reef 200yds in back of the house. Any Ideas? I would go as far North as PDC, if that's what it takes.

your best bet would be talking to one of the dive shops in the area. There is a fill station called Cuzel (Pro Air) that would probably rent you tanks, but I dont know about weights. here's the info

they are very nice people, but I do recommend you call them at least a few days prior to you needing the tanks to reserve them and make arrangements.

Thanks for the lead!
I looked at a lot of the dive shops online...and none mention rental tanks except for their guided dives. Is it rare to rent tanks to touristas?
Regardless, THANKS for the response and the lead, I'll be checking them out!

I was in Puerto Aventuras last Jan. I dove with the dive shop at the resort but when we were down at the marina I did notice a couple of different dive shops. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to their names. Maybe if you do some searching you could find their names and check with them.

Hi Brian,
Most of the reefs off Akumal are boat dives but you might have some fun in Akumal Bay or Yal Kul. Forget Half Moon Bay, way too shallow until you get pretty close to the surf.
Actually, you will probably have better dives on the land side of the barrier reef than on the boat dives. Most of the reefs in that area have seen better days, but the very shallow areas can be ok. Here is a link to a couple that teach diving but use local shops for support. Email them and ask your question, Since they use multiple shops, they may be able to steer you in the right direction,
