Why not camp right on the river?

Have you booked already? Prices? Site #. We plan to try and reserve in the next day or two.

Cobaltbabe. Looks like a nice park, but a little pricey (or maybe I haven't been camping much lately:) ) $22 for 2 adults, plus another $5 for our two kids. My brothers camped near where we keep our boat last weekend. Six (3 adults, 3 kids) with a tent trailer and a tent, on a single site was $21.00

Down from the Legion hall near the Conny.

Its free and theres toilets. Bring your own drinking and cookeing water. Don't setup camp untill later in evening, and break camp early.. It is a park after all. 730 truck stop is just a short drive away for super cheap breakfast, showers, etc if you want them.

No fires, no showers. Bring a small camp stove.

Only downside is the high concentration of dog and goose landmines. Which can make it slightly dificult to locate place to drop your tent.

Probably where my wife and I will be.

Sounds like a day use area, are you sure they allow camping? We plan to hang around till Tuesday, so setting up and tearing down every day really isn't on. However, if we can't get a site elsewhere it provides a backup plan.

Happy Green Acres sounds excellent. Will call this afternoon about reserving a site. We plan to leave here as early Friday as we can (I hope to get off work early) for a Friday eve arrival.
I assume we're meeting up Sat am wherever you enter for the Connie.

If you see my trailer (picture attached) and me looking lost, flag me down. :D

Another spot that I've stayed at and am staying there again is the Pleasure Park Camping and RV Resort.
Nice place: clean, well maintained. Cost is $25/night 7th night free for a trailer with electrical and water hook-up, tents are a bit less. This place is approx. 15 min drive to the river on hwy 29. It's located on Graham lake (very comfortable, secure place).
Check it out www.tourpleasurepark.com

I'm sure there are lot's who can/will help. I'd suggest you start on in the regulator forum http://www.scubaboard.com/f16/s

While price is always a consideration, IMHO you should be sure you purchase a product that can be serviced locally. Having to send your regs off someplace for service would be (again IMO) be a pain.

If you were to join us July 26th, I'm sure you could ask any or all there about their choice of reg.

If he wants to supply me with firewood that weekend, I'll let him try my Apeks. 8)

Frankly, I'm never disappointed having an excuse to dive my Sherwoods again. They don't let me down. He'll have to learn to put up with the 7' hose though, cuz I ain't changing it for one dive.

But, we're getting way off topic again. Is anybody else booked at Happy Green Acres?

No problem sharing a site if they're pressed for space, IF the management allows and the site itself is large enough. Many only allow 1 unit (tent, trailer, etc) per site. Others limit number of people (we're 4) per site. We've a dining shelter too, but not sure if we're dragging it along.

For the locals (Taz), what's the bug (mosquito) level like around there? Most places here aren't a problem. Where we keep the boat they're almost not existant. At a local quarry about a 40 minute drive you do NOT want to be there at dusk. Even with repellent you'll suffer multiple bites.

Thanks Groundhog but I was just yanking your chain. Matt and I have reserved a spot at "Happy Green Acres". The lady was very nice and wanted to know if we were divers. I guess there are alot there all the time. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you. :)

I can hinestly say that I really hadn't given mosquito's a thought until you mentioned it. It would seem that with the lack of rain, the little buggers most be hiding out someother place that here!

on Hwy 2; from 401 Exit 687 then west on Hwy 2 for one mile

I met Boogie at a divesite this afternoon. He's heading up early Friday to get some dives in (wish I could, but gotta work till early afternoon). Suggested he tell the office folk at Happy Green Acres that he's part of a "Scubaboard" group get-together and maybe they could set aside half a dozen sites close to his. Hopefully, when the rest of us arrive, if we mention Scubaboard, we can hopefully connect Friday eve and get aquainted.

Just thought I'd mention that there is also a campsite about half-way between the Rothesay and the Conestoga but i can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.

John (Seacur) and I are hoping to get into Brockville in the early afternoon on Friday. I haven't asked him yet, but I'd like to get to the campground and set up in daylight. I'll tell the Greenacres folks to either run far far away, or, if possible, set aside a bunch of sites in a row. (If possible being the operable term.)

Then, when I know where some Scubaboarders are going to be, I'll go and set up at the farthest point possible away. Admit it, you all know who you are. :)

Ahh. Spoken like someone who's seen me in the morning. :D

My wife asked me an important question this morning, that hopefully one of the "locals" can answer. Where and how far is the nearest Tim Hortons.

If I remember correctly, the nearest Tim Hortons is about 3km from the campsite. It's on King Street. One thing there is no shortage of in Brockville is Tim's. :bounce: There is also a Tims about 5 mins from the Rothesay.

We in fact have 5 Timmy locations here in good ole' B-ville:

1) King Street across from TD Canada Trust
2) Brock Street ( Mid-Town ) just a block from the start of Hwy #29
3) Stewart Blvd across from Burger King
4) Stewart Blvd - in the Esso Station ( northside of Parkedale Ave)
5) Parkedale Ave across from Canadian Tire

You can miss them!

And I still can't get a Cheese Croissant after 11 am let alone a poppyseed bagel.

See everyone on Saturday.
