Can i bring scuba gear from New Zealand to the USA?
I am moving to the States in nov. the only thing I own that is worth anything is my scuba gear is there anything i need to know to get it through customs?
There should not be a problem. It is personal equipment, not being brought into the US for commercial purposes, or for resale. It shouldn't have a declared value greater than $10,000. (It is also not agricultural equipment that has been used on a farm, and does not qualify as unwashed fruits or vegetables.) Pack the gear in a manner that allows for easy inspection, if required, and don't stash any recreational pharmaceuticals in the bladder of the BCD.

Yes...............

If you plan on bringing tanks, make sure they are DOT/CTC. If not then you'll have trouble getting them filled.

If you bring your tanks,it's possible you will pay a additional
weight fee. Not 100% sure but it would seem logical that tanks
need to be empty and valves removed for inspection. Not likely
they allow pressureized tanks on the plane.

don't bring the tanks (if you have them), its a waste of time and money. FSO's won't fill DOT marked tanks
