What is PO2 and what should it be set at if I am diving regular Air?? Default has it at 1.6, but I heard this is pushing it and it's better at 1.4 for recreational conservative diving... is this true?? From what I understand this has something to do with the Nitrogen Tissue Load, but again not sure.

If you're diving air, don't worry about PO2. It's for nitrox diving.

Using 1.4 or 1.6 is irrelevant. Using 1.4 means you'll get a PO2 warning at 198 feet. 1.6 will get you a warning at 231 feet.

Are you Nitrox certified?
PO2 is partial pressure of oxygen. If diving within recreational limits with the computer set to *air*, it won't make any difference what it's set to.

Air (21%) at 218' gives a PO2 of 1.6 and a PO2 of 1.4 at 186'.

FO2 (fraction of oxygen) multiplied by atmospheres of pressure equals PO2.

The P02 alarms on Aeris (Aeris and Oceanic's work almost identically - they're all the same company) computers are set to go off as soon as you are within 2/10's of your setpoint. So if you're set at 1.6 - your alarm will sound at 1.4.

Not that I think it matters for this conversation - but just so you know.
