Lake Days May 1st 2010

I just wanted to get the word out that this year's Scuba Adventure Day at Lake Pleasant is planned for Saturday May 1st, 2010. The first planning meeting is set for the end of January and I will update everyone as more information becomes available. If you are not familiar with the event this will be the 3rd year the Lake Pleasant Regional Park has hosted it. It is the only coordinated dive event hosted in the Phoenix area for the benefit of the local diving community. Local dive operators will be hosting underwater events as well giving away thousands of dollars worth of prizes. Save room on your calendar and join us at the premier diving lake in central Arizona for a day of fun!

Lake Day Update:

So far the following dive centers are participating and will have $2 off coupons if you plan on diving.

The event will be held in the area of the 10 lane ramp on the southwest portion of the lake as the last two years. The exact location will depend on the water level. The event begins at 8am and will end at 3 pm. Some of the events scheduled are as follows:

Navigation Course
Speargun Target Contest
Lobster Grab
Treasure Hunt
Slippery Snorkel Race

As the last two years the Diver Down II and the Scubateers dive boats will be hosting divers at various dive locations on the lake. This year Dillions @ Scorpion Bay will be serving lunch at the event and hopefully we will have a pancake breakfast although that is still being worked out.

If you plan on diving remember to bring some air cylinders and don't forget your C-card!

What's the latest? Looks like with the level of the lake the event will take place someplace other than the last two years.

This year's event will take place at the top of the 10 lane boat ramp, I am pretty sure you won't be able to miss the event. It is basically in the same general area of the park as the last two years.

PS.. the prize list keeps growing, so if you are tired of sitting at home doing nothing here is your excuse to venture up to the lake!

Scuba Sciences is also participating in this year's event.

We will provide any certified diver a free Air Cylinder to take to the lake for your Lake Pleasant Diving Day! Please bring your c-card into our Metro location (8502 N Black Canyon Highway) on Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and pick up your cylinder to use for Saturday.

Scuba Adventure Day

Hours: 8am to 3pm

Location: Enter the park off of Castle Hot Springs Rd and follow the signs to the 10 lane boat ramp.

Dive Boats: Both dive boats will be offering free 1 tank dives from 8:30am to 1:30pm

Try Scuba: Inland Water Divers & Sports Chalet will offering this activity from 9am to 12pm

Speargun Target Contest: Win a prize for the most accurate shot 9am to 10am

Lobster Grab: Collect the most Desert Lobsters and win a prize, 10am to 11am

Navigation Course Challenge: Compete for the fastest time and win a prize, 11am to 12pm

Treasure Hunt: Find a treasure rock and win a prize, 12:30pm to 1:30pm

Slippery Snorkel Race: Compete for the fastest time 11am & 1pm

Gear & Kayak Demos: On going during the day, check with the various vendors

General Prize Drawing: Purchase a raffle ticket for $5 and see what you have won!

Support the dive centers that support you! Rent your cylinders from one of the participating dive centers and we will see you at the lake May 1st.
