Hello,
I'm not aware of any method of doing that. Bottom line is it doesnt' matter what the age is as long as it's functional and your happy with it. My 2 1/4 camera was made in the 70's and she's still ticking.
My personal policy is to have any new equipment serviced before they go into the water. That way I know it's fully functional and works.
