Okay this may sound a bit crazy.......
We all have our favorite Dive Ops, DM's, resorts, beaches, restaurants, even drinks, (love those Margaritas at....). Heck we even have our favorite dentists.
What I'm looking for is a nice massage person who does manicures/pedicures/facials/ and cuts hair. Heard there was a wonderful person by the name of Yani Sanchez, but she may have moved recently:dontknow:.
There is nothing like a relaxing afternoon after diving than a nice massage and a good manicure/pedicure before going out to your favorite restaurant for dinner.
I ask because when I'm in the Philippines you can get this service for a few dollars and they will come out to your resort or house and the quality of the work is great.
So I was hoping the same service might be available in COZ.
Okay thanks............... :cowboy:

My bud pulled his back loading his luggage on the way down last time (city boys aren't raised toting feed sacks) and it lingered until Blue Angel called in a massage guy. He was amazed. Now getting all that together may be a reach.

Well maybe all in one day would be, but maybe a manicure/pedicure one day, a massage another, and of course the obligatory facial for the wife.

I thot you meant all in one person. I'm sure the BA desk could set you up with good ones, altho you may get better answers here.

When I return to the BA next October/November, the wife wants to go. She does not dive. She likes her "treatments" when we go to different resorts in the Philippines.

Its going to be more than the few dollars you pay in the Phillipines but in Cozumel, I would recomend Katie Jackson. Her web page is : BluBambu Salon.Spa - Cozumel's Finest Full Service Salon and Spa (http://www.blubambumx.com/). She is very resonable.

I don't know about the mani/pedicure part of it, but BY FAR the best massage on the island is given by Sally Hurwitch...period.

Barefoot in Cozumel: Therapist (http://www.barefootincozumel.com/therapist.htm)

Sally has pulled me out of migranes!! and if she is in town when I'm there, a visit with here is as much a must as going diving is.

+1 for Sally - aka Barefoot in Cozumel. When she does Ashiatsu it's absolutely amazing! :D

Not quite what you asked for, but I can recommand Acqua Day Spa : ::::::::::::::: ACQUASPA ::::::::::::::: (http://www.acquaspa.com.mx/)

They offer all the services you would find in the US (for roughly the same price).
Very nice facilities and knowledgeable staff. Didn't get a massage, just a facial, and it was very thorough and professional. If your wife enjoys being pampered, she will love it there.

Another vote for Sally. You wont find a better massage in CZM & I'd go so far as to say you'd be hard pressed to find a better one even in the US.

I suggested Katie Jackson for the whole package of pedicure, nails and massage. I like the massage therapist to come to me at the house I rent on vacation. I have found 2 therapists that are great and come with their own massage table. Rachel Carvalho (email: rachel_in_cozumel@hotmail.com) is great. She has been traveling the past few months but is back on the island the end of January. The 2nd is Bernardo Alvarez, his email is iba_mithos@hotmail.com. He gives a great massage.
I hear Sally is a treat as well....I look forward to trying her services as well.

Another STRONG recommendation for Sally!

I've tried everyone listed in this thread at some point, and Sally's ashiatsu cannot be topped IMO. She's professional, licensed and she REALLY knows her stuff. It's the most relaxing treat you can give yourself!

Can I ask a risque question? When we were there last summer, I took my nephews down around Punta Langosta. There looked like there were a few upstairs massage operations soliciting cruise people. Are those REALLY massage places or are they really MASSAGE, nudge, nudge, places? :ssst::jb:

more of just a back rub. Not a therapeutic massage that you will get from sally. and no they are not risque.

That, uh, is available in town, or so I'm told. You can't get that kind of info here, but tip your DM well when you ask.

Perhaps I should clarify, I just *wondered* about the girls solicting by the cruise dock. Looked like an '80s movie in the far east or something.

I have also been told about that availability in town as well, but not on display, so to speak. Just for the record, I HAVE NOT researched the issue.

Sally was really good... best I ever had but was $125. How much is Katie?

Katie does not do massage, she does the manicure, pedicure end of it that the OP was asking about. She has a massage therapist at her shop. She is incredible. Check her website. Rachel and Bernardo cost about $1. per minute of massage. You will need to contact them for a fee schedule. Both are great and come to where I stay. I just booked a massage with Sally in 2 weeks and will also book one with Rachel. Looking forward to a relaxing week in Cozumel.

Coral-Reefer, my rates have been $60 per hour for the last four years. Are you sure you had an appointment with me?

You know, I've never had one; maybe I should. My bud hurt his back lifting his luggage on the way down last time (city boys weren't raised toting 100# feed sacks) and he ask the Blue Angel desk about a massage. I didn't know until some stout bodied local fellow knocked on our door waking me from a siesta. :sleeping2:

Anyway, he said it was the best massage he'd ever had, including from a Chiropractor he sees, and fixed him up well. $40/one hour. Yet, I don't know the guys name or that one would get the same fellow if the hotel arranged one again?

Apparently not.

And my above second hand info is not intended to take away from suggestions to patronize Sally. I've heard nothing but very good on hers, aside from the rate mistake here.

Yes, Sally, after thinking about it the $125 or so must have been for both my wife and me. That DOES make more sense. Sorry, my mistake... it has been a couple of years. It was the only massage I have ever had with a bag of frozen peas on my foot! I must say that it was the best massage I have ever had... and even if it was $125 just for me, it would have been worth every penny.:)

Wow, thanks to all who gave advice. I think my wife will enjoy her treatments, heck I might even indulge in a manicure/pedicure/massage myself.

I have used Lupita who is set up at La Palapita. Thats at Villa Blanca, across the road from Scuba Maus' dive shop. She is very skilled, for $40hr a great deal.

I can agree with that. Last one was Jan 15. Best relaxing hour you can get. See you again in a few days Sally! I'll call.
