Hi all,

I have never dived in the keys before. Im wondering if I am naive to think that I could dive in the Keys in february with a 3mm shorty. I am a big guy, and I dont chill easily.......... so what can I expect for temp roughly at maybe 60 ft? Do I need to plan for something warmer than my shorty?

T

yes, more than a shorty :) the surface temp today was 71 about an hour and a 1/2 north of Key largo. not sure about 60'.

Feb is the coldest time of year. I would definitely wear at least a 3MM full suit and consider a light hood and gloves--- you can always flood the suit with water if you're warm but you can't get warm if you're cold.

I am incredibly sensitive to cold water and wear a 2 pc 5mm this time a year in sfl...at least until I get my drysuit

well to be honest with you I am getting my drysuit back from getting repaired and that is what I will be diving with for the next 2 months. It will be especially nice when I get out of the water being dripping wet with a cold wind hitting me.

I've seen people dive in board shorts in febuary in KW....That being said i use a 3mm full year around down there and stay comfy..
