Hello... I was on a dive this past Sunday and was setting up my gear when I noticed a large crack in the inside backplate part. I peeled the back pad back only to find the plate broke in 4 or 5 parts. I have owned the BCD for a little more than a year and am pretty good about cleaning it and storeing it on a BCD hanger in the basement at room temp. I contacted a friend that dives the same model only to find that his has a large crack in the plate as well. I was wondering if you have ever had this problem. I feel this is a problem that needs looking into right away. I have added 2 pics. one of my BCD and one of my friends... I await your response

Hi Tazzer,

Please contact your local Hollis dealer or our Customer Service team. They would need a closer look to determine the cause of this issue - also to replace the plate and get you back in the water :D.

Regards,

10994055_10153617774472571_855641811013695805_n (1).jpg Here in Australia it's slightly different - my local Hollis dealer quickly found a replacement for my cracked backplate and I paid the $ for the honor. I admit when i saw the crack i tossed it in the too hard basket ~2 years ago and used my backplate & harness ( yes it's also Hollis ). Rubins at IDC Scuba valiantly suggested i could buy a whole new HD200 ( yes they are lighter and have a totally redesigned backplate x3 thicker than the HD100) and i was tempted.

I did suggest they try AUP - the distributor here in Australia ( it's 200m away from the store ) - to try to get warranty assistance but that was an Australian negative, for some reason Australian distributors always reply " it happens in America not here " - frankly it sh*%ts me as an ex-warranty specialist for Sony Australia this is just pure laziness.

So I know this thin backplate will snap again as I have already broken one before this ( my fault for trying to fold the BC into a case ) - does anyone know if the HD200 parts can be fitted to the HD100 ?

Cbanhidy,

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem? I've got exactly the same BCD, with exactly the same break in the backplate! I've been trying to get parts from Hollis in Canada and they're absolutely useless. At this point, i'm not buying from Hollis ever again!
