OK ... I'm almost in the gang. I read all of the threads ... scoured the manufacturers' sites ... and just ordered my new Inspiration (supposed to be delivered next week). I went stock for now, but had APD put the factory ADV on. I am sure that I'll end up sticking a SS backplate on eventually, but I thought that I would learn on it just as it is out of the box. I just wanted to thank you guys on this thread for all of the great info. And Diver Mole is the man! Spectacular site!

Congrats. After my first two pool sessions I was wondering if I made a big mistake, but my first OW dive was nice. With 17 CCR dives under my belt (boy am I a newbie), I just love the Inspiration. I don't care if it takes longer to setup, prep and clean up... my dives are nothing less than magic.

Scuba Schools of America sells both VR3s and HS Explorers with either Inspiration or Dräger connectors (or without;) ). As well as Inspirations, Drägers, OMGs, and provides training for them through ANDI.
Scuba Schools of America - Riverside

Riverside CA 92504

If you check the Scuba Show 2003 thread you'll find contact info for DeltaP's US rep, she should be able to find someone in your area who can sell you one.
Addited: By the way, welcome and congrats to the new turtle. :D

That's a beauty! Welcome to the "Great International Herd of Turtles"! I've had mine for three years now, and really enjoy it! The OC guys can wear doubles, carry doubles, Hell they can even have doubles shipped down to them, and we can still outrun them!!;) And fish are just so much friendlier when those bubbles are not roaring around you!!!:D
I hope you have many happy years of no-bubbles diving!!:D :D

Just completed Patricks first 2 confined water training sessions..
We started at 9:30 am and ended around 6:30pm or so....
after a few minutes in the water he commented how he felt like a novice.. (this is what the reaction should be... If a person tells me everything was great I know I can't trust anything they are telling me).
By the end of the day he looked pretty good under water and Had pretty good grasp of the basic skills required.. His openwater dives begin this week...
Welcome to the club patrick...

Lol ... I am absolutely hooked! I think that I'll put some of my bottles on Ebay :-) Do you think PADI will mind if I start teaching my OW classes with an Inspiration on my back?
Thanks Joe!

You are in for a real treat. Peace and quiet, and more life than you've seen before..........as well as more bottom time than you can imagine. Again congrats....

To your new rig, taking it under water, and doing so with a good instructor.
Wish you the best for the rest. Good luck and good times.

Well, I am heading to Dutch Springs for the next three days to finish up my CCR training with Joe. Should be fun ... I have never been diving in a quarry before.
In addition, I just booked Tom Mount to do a Full Cave course on the Inspiration in Dec. Has anyone else taken a cave course using a rebreather? I would be interested to hear about your experience.

Hope you enjoy the quarry.
You're already booked for the cave CCR class? Do you already have the OC cave ticket? You better, new as you are (and still will be in December) to the CCR end of it. Hope you know what you're doing, that seems awfully soon to head into caves. :(
Certainly wish you the best of luck, both for this weekend and the caving.:)

Congratulations Patrick,
Pat finished his inspiration class with flying colors.. Talking with him he plans on logging lots of hours before december, and Tom will teach someone without any OC cave experience..
After this weekend Patrick probably thinks I was either a drill sargeant or some type of torture specialist in a previous life.. I bet he got tired of me pulling out my "failure" cue cards and making him to simulated falures..
The quarry was very busy this weekend and the viz was the pits.. bottom temps were in the upper 40s
Lets see, this weekend Patrick got to see a cement truck, a pump station, lots of traing platforms, a fire truck, school bus, crane, 50ft cabin cruiser, a cessna, a sikorski, a van, car, lots of confused fish, and tons of Zebra mussels... I hope he enjoyed it....

My dive training philosophy is to take as many classes as I can as a beginner. Not for the C-Cards, but because I would rather make my beginner mistakes and get through the initial learning curve with an instructor at my side. And, having completed my first CCR class, I definitely feel like a beginner again.
I won't be heading into caves outside of the class any time soon, there aren't any near me ... I just want to task load and get more inspiration hours under my belt with an instructor before I start doing any serious diving with it. Besides, I always wanted to take a class with Tom Mount.
