Are there recommended restrictions for a 50+ diver with mild emphysema/COPD to continue diving? Restrictions like depth? time? frequency? I quit smoking two years ago.

They are the experts and can put you in touch with a local physician that can evaluate your condition. Richard otterdive March 14th, 2010, 06:55 PM Yes, there are recommendations. You are placing yourself in great danger from lung overexpansion injury, and increased risk of DCI. If you have a long history of these conditions, there is likely to be damage and scar tissue in your lungs. Only you and your physician can decide, but I would think that it's too great of a risk. You could be placing your dive buddy at risk as well.
