View Full Version : New Record Depth to be Attempted on Inspiration
pwfletcher August 6th, 2003, 01:29 PM A new world record depth is going to be attempted on an Inspiration rebreather next year. Details at: http://www.wr350.com/hi_tec/default.htm db8us August 12th, 2003, 09:55 AM Funny, they "train" for one year and then they realise ONE WEEK before that they do not have the money ? This is as stupid as it can get in my opinion. Bragged for one year and then weenie-ing out. At least it gave me a good laugh ! Michael pwfletcher August 12th, 2003, 01:31 PM Their website now appears to be down as well. caveseeker7 August 12th, 2003, 07:37 PM db8us once bubbled... At least it gave me a good laugh Gettin' nasty in your old age, aren't you? ;) Easy for you to laugh, you're more accomplished than most. Pretty much finished the Doux de Coly, herzlichen Glückwunsch by the way. I'm not much for record-setting dives, so I couldn't care less about those guys diving or cancelling. But it is a bit embarrasing ... then again, if their financial planning is any indication for their dive planning, might be a good thing. db8us August 13th, 2003, 03:06 AM "laugh" might have been to nasty. I more or less could not believe it to have such a bad planning on land. I mean, if you bring together the equipment and team, locations, boat, etc. then you have to have you financial stuff together long ago ??? And also i think it is not THAT expensive...... To me it looks more like excuses for not doing it.... Michael caveseeker7 August 13th, 2003, 10:37 AM When you dive the RB80, do you rig it with an extra 2nd stage for your partner/safety divers? Or do you each rely on your own gas supply via the DSV integrated 2nd? (when using a single gas supply in the breather) PS: With 'record breaking dives' in my previous post I ment dives that have the record as it's sole purpose. Not purposeful dives that end up setting one. db8us August 14th, 2003, 03:03 AM Hi, we have an OC reg on all Bottom-Mix Trimix-Stages and of course we have the long hose. So there is plenty of gas available since we do not breathe the backgas at all ! Greetings Michael idiot fish August 15th, 2003, 05:07 AM Just been sent info below; >>Simon has just completed a world record of a solo rebreather dive to 150 metres on 2nd August. Apparently he was using an inspiration and diving a wall. But is 150m a record on ccr??? - Rickoz August 15th, 2003, 05:41 AM I think it's about 180msw for the YBOD Dived off Brisbane Queensland Australia  BigJetDriver August 15th, 2003, 07:51 AM Rickoz once bubbled... I think it's about 180msw for the YBOD Dived off Brisbane Queensland Australia  Not the Yellow Box of DEBT again???? (A tip o' the hat to the Mad Diver Mole!!):D BigJetDriver August 15th, 2003, 09:07 AM  I am not certain about this, and the folks at the factory are checking on it now, but AFAMK (as far as Martin knows) the record is at 202 msw, set by Jens Hilbert, but: "Stand by for NEWS!" caveseeker7 August 15th, 2003, 08:53 PM Didn't know he dove YBOD (Yellow Box Of Depth, apparently ;) ) Thought he dove A-Tec's Dual RB80 copy SCR ... . The man moves up inthe world. :D (Sorry Waldy, couldn't resist ;) ) db8us August 17th, 2003, 05:14 AM i think he made it OC ... but about the breathers he has now, it is a Christian Klein Version of Markus Schafheutles RECY01. It differs in some point from the RB80, like only one injector per unit and the condesnation is in different places, etc... BigJetDriver August 17th, 2003, 03:47 PM db8us once bubbled... i think he made it OC ... The above was in reference to my post about the depth record for the Inspiration. I posted it shortly after a conversation with Martin Parker, and that was what he (Martin) said. Again, the folks at the factory are checking their info to be sure. It looks as if we now have several versions of meaning for YBOD!! (1) We have the noted sociopath, George Irvine, and his version. (2) We also have the Mad Diver Mole's rueful observation: "Yellow Box of DEBT"! (3) Finally we have Caveseeker7's version, (which I must admit I really like), and that is: "Yellow Box of DEPTH"!!!
