Anyone have a D9 and check the temp when they're not in the water? I did and it showed 80 something degrees. I was in a cold room. Is it only accurate when on a dive?
Suunto D9 unreliable temp on the surface?

I think any of the temp readings on computers read very slowly. I remember a guy who did a short fresh water ice dive on a very cold day trying to tell people he was diving in 28 deg. water

Sounds more like 28 Fahrenheit, -2 deg cel. Maybe his computer froze up as he entered the water.
I think in the manual it warns you that:
- above water, it will give an artificial reading because of body heat, and
- in the water, it takes about 3-4 minutes to adjust to ambient temp
