Hi all. It looks like I'll going from the states to Seoul for work. I am thinking of adding on a few days for some pacific diving as I'll be so "close." Actually, the closest I found was non-stop flights to Saipan, Cebu, and Guam at 4-5 hour flights. Everything else is much farther or multiple legs.

Am I missing any destinations with easy access from Seoul?

Is Saipan the best place among the list above? Is it worth the trouble compared to the better places in the carribean?

Thoughts appreciated.

Jeju Island

Jeju City is a one-hour flight from Gimpo airport in Seoul.

Excellent diving. Outstanding sushi.

There are direct flights to Okinawa for outstanding diving.

I have lived in the Carribean and Saipan is much beeter than anywhere there except Cuba. We have lots of Americans come here for diving that live in Korea. Saipan has much cleaner ocean than Guam. Yesterdays water temp at Grotto dive sight 93 deg F with 100 ft plus vis.
Dale still on a little rock in the Pacific

thanks for the tips! I missed the chance next trip but think I'll be heading back to Seoul before too long...

When I was in Korea I saw a couple crazies go shore diving on the coast... thats always an option!

Just kidding, I lived on Okinawa for a while and it has excellent diving with support services everywhere.

I am living in Seoul since Dec. '13 and have been to Okinawa (2:15h flight), Cebu (~4h flight), Bali (~7h) and Palau (~5h flight). All with great diving spots.
Nonetheless, Palau is by far the best I have experienced. I met lots of fellow divers while there, and all seemed to be amazed.

Safe dives!
