Hi,
Just wondering if there are any swap meets coming up in the area anytime in the next few months, anyone heard of anything?
Curious to find out what's around for used gear and not seeing a whole lot in the usual areas like newspaper classifieds etc.
Thanks,
Matt.

The only swap meets I heard about lately have been out of some of the local shops. I don't believe I've heard of anything like the one arranged in the Toronto area up here.
Gear gets advertised occassionally in the "Pennysaver" (more than the local papers I've noticed), but more gets sold through word of mouth, and through the shops.
Right now I'm looking a picking up a whole set of "stuff" as the diver has decided to give up the sport and concentrate on other sports he loves more (I know hard to believe...... ), I found out about it through a friend.

I suggest that you check out the scuba in the park thread ( link below ) and the website they have set up. Complete day of scuba fun including a scuba swap and used equipment and RIBS!!!!

RIBS
Yes RIBS, not to be confused with RIB's of the inflateable type. :D
Taz et al, any suggestions on low cost, non camping accomodations? While the get together was great and Happy Green Acres was good, driving, setting up, packing up, driving, was way tiring.

I suggest you try:
Seaway Lodge, RR 1 Stn Main, Brockville, ON, 613-342-1357
Nice decent place located on the river, better than the best Western or Days Inn. They have a nice pool and the rates are great. It is about 5 km's east of Brockville on Hwy #2.

Seaway Lodge is where a friend and I stayed during a recent visit. With the mini-efficiency kitchen (micro + fridge) and access to the BBQs it was a good deal.
Another where we tried to get in was the Chalet Cabins (http://www.chaletcabins.ca/) (613-342-6010)
Both are slightly east of Brockville heading to Prescott (you would have passed them on our convoy from the Rothsay).

Chalet Cabins is another great location to say. Thanks to Diving Gal for also pointing that one out!

I've heard that too!
We don't want people to get this event confused with Ribfest that happened this past weekend. The one guy who was here from Alabama won for best ribs and best sauce.
