Hey guys. Have 2, two yr old seadoo explorers. used them twice in 50 ft max, in key largo the week I bought them, for 20 minutes. I didn't like scooting, I'm a drift with the fishes kind of person. Now after being stored since then, of course they don't start. Didn't charge them every 3 months like you are supposed to. Stored them in the correct position, whatever, the batteries are toast. Before I hang them on the workshop for decorations, I thought you guys might have some ideas. I don't want to spend 179 bucks each for batteries, not yet anyway. I was wondering about putting a smaller 12 volt-7.5 Ah bats and rigging it, know what I mean? Less run time? Would it work? What say Ye. Thanks for the help and have a good 4th. Kevin

Kevin, I've been restoring a damaged Seadoo explorer myself and have found the batteries are one of the easiest things to change over. Asuming you are out of warranty already, just take the power unit apart (6 screws and a bolt through the handle) and you'll find 2 12v 12Ah SLA batteries inside (they are a standard size so easy to find a replacement). Either take them to a battery specialist (if your not tech savy yourself) or simply order a nother 2 from a local supplier and resolder the wies). I can get replacement batts here in Aus for around $40each ($80 and mine was back in action), you should have some cheaper options available in USA.

Hey, SeaDragon! How's things in the southern hemisphere? Thanks for the great reply. Thats what I was looking for. The batteries, there are two of them, as you know, but only one was labeled as 12v24Ah, so I will look for 2 12v12Ah. I can handle the tech part, already took them apart a couple times, not really much to it, like you said. Tough times and need to spend less. The output on the electronics puts out, but batteries won't charge, no DC volts on the multi meter from the bats. So, I really appreciate that reply and now I can do it for less. Thanks again! Kevin K,

Bloody cold. A good time for tinkering in the shed with the DPV. I really dont know why they only printed on one of the Batts, but they are certainly 2 12Ah's. Looking at Seadoo's website they look like the same battery that the VS supercharged uses (only 1 of in that model though). Best of luck with it.

I thought this thread referred to 2 yr old little kids that get into everything. I was going to suggest an anchor and some rope.
